![]() ![]() ![]() Patrol Deputies respond to and assist the public in these and many other types of volatile situations. It is the responsibility of the Patrol Division to respond to every type of call for service from a barking dog to a fatal motor vehicle accident or homicide scene. Patrol Deputies are the first responders to all major crimes and other emergencies. The Sheriff's Patrol Division is the backbone of the law enforcement component of the Sheriff's Office. Whether or not a contract is in place, the Sheriff still has full jurisdiction within municipalities in his county. ![]() A full service Sheriff’s Office also provides primary law enforcement within unincorporated areas of the county and may contract with municipalities to provide such services within municipalities. The Sheriff operates the jail and provides court security as well as being responsible for serving civil papers and executing arrest warrants. Sheriffs and their deputies are certified through the State of Georgia. The Sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer in the county. The Sheriff’s Office is a department of county government and is funded through County taxes and other revenue. The Sheriff is a constitutional officer deriving his authority from Georgia’s Constitution and common law. The dedicated men and women within the Sheriff’s Office operate in a variety of roles including Uniform Patrol, Court Services, Detention, Criminal Investigations and Administration. Prevention and awareness classes, training programs and providing relevant information to residents of our county are just a few of the ways the sheriff's office contribute its time and energy. The sheriff's office, located in Reidsville, the County Seat of Tattnall County, is proud of the many services offered to the community. This information is part of that initiative. This is accomplished through education, training and by providing residents access to accurate and timely information. While enforcement plays a major role in its day-to-day responsibilities, the sheriff's office also places a high value on public safety, awareness and prevention. The Tattnall County Sheriff's Office also employs two deputies and four bailiffs who run operations in the courtrooms of the Grand Jury, Superior, Juvenile and State Courts.The chief deputy and chief jailer manage a 150-bed county jail. The Tattnall County Sheriff's Office has 15 deputies, three secretaries, 23 full-time jailers, four dispatchers, 10 part-time employees and one Intern. ![]()
